Wendy Armstrong

I am an Associate in the Family department.  I pride myself on my ability to communicate with my clients and put them at ease during a difficult time in their life.  I take a practical approach to achieve   the best results for my clients.  My clients appreciate my conciliatory and understanding approach and feel able to discuss matters openly with me.

Areas of Work

I deal with all areas of family law, but my particular specialism is dealing with complex children issues and financial matters following or during divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships or separation.  I carefully consider the needs of my client, both long term and short term, and advise on how property (in the UK and overseas) should be dealt with, together with advising fully in relation income claims, to include interim income claims pending conclusion of proceedings/final financial settlement.  

In relation to children issues, in addition to dealing with applications for Children Arrangements orders, I also deal with applications for prohibited steps and specific issues orders together with financial applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act.

I regularly represent clients in relation separation agreements following the breakdown of co-habitation relationship and in relation to trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 claims (TOLATA).

Previous Experience

I have an impressive knowledge, understanding and  experience  in all aspects of family law.

I have worked in family law for over 26 years.  During this time, I have gained extensive experience in children issues acting for parents and grandparents. I have acted in high profile children cases, to include cases relating to child abduction and have a reported case on child abduction (Acquiescence). 

I have been involved in a number  high value asset disputes involving multiple properties (both in UK and overseas), large pensions, sizeable investments and businesses. I have experience of representing clients in the Family Division of the High Court.

I have throughout my career had a strong link with the Armed Forces and have a formidable   understanding of Armed Forces pension.  I have considerable experience in representing Armed Forces personnel in family cases.  

I previously worked within the Family Departments of two well-known local firms, before moving to BakerLaw in June 2012.

Hobbies and Interests

I enjoy travelling, walking and reading.  In addition, I regularly go to the theatre and concerts.
