As Managing Partner, I am involved in the management of the firm on a day-to-day basis and am responsible ensuring compliance with the regulatory and financial requirements set out by our governing body. Previously, I undertook work for both our consumer and commercial clients in court and mediated matters.
I am a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and have over 30 years case experience although since 2017 I took the responsibility full time for managing and running the firm to ensure our clients and staff are free to provide the excellent service the firm is proud to deliver.
My areas of work
For the 30 years of case work I undertook commercial litigation, contentious probate (disputed estates and wills) together with professional negligence matters where I developed a depth of knowledge and experience acting for individuals and commercial clients. I remain a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association.
My recent successes
During my case work, I conducted matters to the Court of Appeal in professional negligence cases, in particular where the level of damages was in dispute, led on the striking out of a claim on behalf of an estate where step children were making a spurious claim and secured settlement on favourable terms for a commercial client where the business was liable and the role was one of damage limitation.
I am a firm believer in the use of alternative dispute resolution where appropriate and have conducted many successful mediations.
My previous experience
I trained in a niche practise before joining a top 30 leading UK firm where I was a salaried Partner and headed up the Dispute Resolution department. After 14 years I decided to bring nationwide commercial experience to businesses and clients under the banner of BakerLaw and have grown with a management team from top UK law firms and lawyers with niche expertise. All these are supported by those with a passion for the law and serving not only their clients but their community. The firm is driven by it’s values, which were defined by the entire team and embraced by all.
I am proud to have taken the firm to Lexcel Accreditation which is the hallmark of quality independently assessed by The Law Society.
Most recently I am proud to have taken the firm to win the Surrey Law Society Business Growth Award for 2018, the Surrey Business Award for Best Professional Service Firm 2018 and Symphony Legal Law Firm of the Year 2018.
My interests and hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, my dog, motorbikes and fine food/ wine (if the chance to escape to warmer climates is not an option)!
