Court Fees increase: How will it affect you?

  • Posted

The Government is implementing a new fee structure for the English civil court system which will come into effect on 22nd April 2014.

Although some fees are remaining the same, being reduced or withdrawn the reforms will see some stark increases to a range of fees which in some cases will be up to 216%.

For example, fees for compensation claims between £5,000 and £10,000 will increase by 81% from £245 to £445 and a standard-fee of £280 will be brought in for claims not involving money such as repossession of property. If you require a more comprehensive break-down of the revised fee-structure please visit http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2014/874/contents/made

In order to stand a chance at avoiding these fee increases, we urge those who are considering making a claim in the civil courts to contact us as soon as possible to discuss your case. Please call 01252 733 770 or email enquiries@baker-law.co.uk
